Supporting culture has never been so easy! All it takes is a signature. In order to donate 0.5% of your income tax to the Gallerie dell’Accademia, simply sign your name and include our tax code in your tax return form (730, UNICO, and CU forms, Finanziamento delle attività di tutela, promozione e valorizzazione dei beni culturali e paesaggistici section).
Donating won’t cost you anything. The 5XMILLE doesn’t entail any additional charge. If you don’t opt for any preference, your 0.5% amount will still be collected as general taxation. Wouldn’t you rather Tintoretto and Tiziano received it instead?
Remember. The 5XMILLE donation is not an alternative to the 8XMILLE programme: choose both!

The ART BONUS initiative was introduced pursuant to par. 1 of Decree-Law no. 83 dated 31 May 2014, containing urgent provisions for the protection of Italy's historic heritage, cultural development, and the promotion of tourism. The ART BONUS initiative is a tax credit for monetary donations sponsoring cultural activities and the performing arts, with the ultimate goal of promoting private patronage in favour of Italy’s cultural heritage.
Thanks to the ART BONUS initiative, you can deduct from your taxes up to 65% of your donations aimed at:
- Preserving, safeguarding and restoring the public cultural heritage;
- Financing public cultural entities and venues such as, for example, classical music foundations, opera houses, and historic theatres, orchestras, and festivals, as well as distribution networks and theatre, ballet, and dance companies;
- Creating new venues, as well as renovating and enhancing existing ones owned by public institutions and other not-for-profit entities active in the field of the performing arts.

THE RIVELAZIONI PROJECT
In June 2017, in partnership with Borsa Italiana (the Italian Stock Exchange), the Gallerie launched the second edition of “Rivelazioni – Finance for Fine Arts”, a project whose goal is to restore 8 artworks from the museum’s collection. The project, which also benefits from the ART BONUS initiative, features an innovative mechanism for fund raising: a number of artworks are proposed to the public, with varying restoration costs, so as to facilitate the relationship between the museum and our patrons, who can participate by “adopting” a painting through a simplified donation process.
ARTWORKS ADOPTED SO FAR
In the aftermath of the devastating 1966 flood (known as acqua granda in Venice), Italy’s cultural heritage suffered damage that far exceeded the recovery capabilities of a single country. For this reason, the then Director-General of UNESCO, René Maheu followed up on a request from the Italian government and called for international support. The immediate response was the creation of over 50 private committees across several countries, which would go on to promote initiatives aimed at contributing to the timely restoration of the cultural heritage damaged during the flood. A joint programme was created over the following years between UNESCO and the International Private Committees for the Safeguarding of Venice, and a close, fruitful relationship was established between these organisations and the Soprintendenze (Italian cultural heritage directorates) of which the Gallerie is also a part. This is a partnership that still continues today, as shown by the numerous ongoing projects aimed at preserving and enhancing the museum’s heritage, made possible thanks to several private associations and charities, such as the Venice International Foundation, the Venice in Peril Fund, Fondazione Venetian Heritage Onlus, and Save Venice Inc.
