Percorsi guidati per le scuole secondarie di primo e secondo grado

Guided tour to Elective Affinities

Lower and upper secondary schools

An educational and stimulating opportunity to see how art speaks an eternal and universal language: the exhibition features meaningful dialogues between Renaissance and 18th-century works from the Galleries and 20th-century works from the Berggruen Museum in Berlin. All along the way, we will pause to observe how different genres in art history have evolved, "listening" to diachronic dialogues between characters from myth, artists, ordinary people and even still-lives in a cross-reference between the works of Klee and Bosch, Giacometti and Canova, Matisse and Giorgione; but above all, we'll see how the works of Picasso manage to converse with most of the genres in the Galleries. We'll be able to see how, despite the evolving artistic techniques and historical contexts, the human desire to express our deepest longings, emotions, and appreciation for the world's beauty through art remains consistent throughout the centuries.

THE ARTWORKS TELL

We turn students into art critics by tackling with them a reading of the artwork through compositional and formal analysis, to come to understand together the function of the image in different historical periods. In a particular period of history, we take note of various topics that come up repeatedly. By encouraging students to consider the role of their bodies and emotions, we gain insight into the reasons behind these recurring themes, while also paying attention to the details.
