We inform the visitors that from today the painting by Piero della Francesca St. Jerome and a devoted man (around 1450) is again on display in room XXIII at the Gallerie dell'Accademia after the restoration realized by the Opificio delle Pietre Dure in Florence and the following exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of New York. This restoration has shown even better the sharpness of the colours of the only painting by the Tuscan painter owned by the Venetian Museum.

Acquired in 1850 with the bequest of Felicita Renier, the painting - destined to private devotion and signed by the painter himself - shows on the close-up St. Jerome sitting and a devoted man, identified with the Lucchese merchant Girolamo di Agostino Amadi. On the background the landscape can be related to Borgo San Sepolcro, Piero's birthplace, and the Tiberine valley.
