The tour traces the intricate history of the buildings that make up the Gallerie today, the establishment of the academy, and the origins of the collections. It aims to contextualize the collection's masterpieces within the wider framework of Veneto's historical events and the development of Italian art history.

🆕 The Baroque century in Venice and the Bellotti enigma

Guided tour - 1 hour 15 minutes

The exhibition Wonder, Reality, Enigma. Pietro Bellotti and 17th-century painting in Venice opens a window onto the Baroque century from a Venetian perspective: between the lagoon's response to the Counter-Reformation and the nascent scientific method, visitors will gain an understanding of Bellotti's stylistic and iconographic choices, his search for a unique style and rare subjects, attempting to unravel some of the enigmas that seem to populate his work. Allegory and a grasp of “reality” coexist in the figurative universe of this artist, who embodies the contradictions of a fascinating and varied century.

THE ART COMPASS: EXPLORERS IN THE GALLERIE

An orienteering activity with a map among the museum's spaces: this is how we look at the details of individual works of art that students must locate, report and use as landmarks to reach the next stages of the route. Like explorers in an unfamiliar place, children orient themselves among the paintings and find Ariadne's thread in the journey of Venetian art from 1300 to 1800.

WHAT'S ON YOUR HEAD?

A thematic itinerary with a particular cross-cultural slant: the history of art reread through clothing and specifically across women's and men's headgear; a journey through art and multiculturalism to see how this last is not only a phenomenon of our times but, particularly in Venice, a deep-rooted and characteristic aspect of the city itself, dynamic and always receptive to fashions, mentalities, ideas, art and culture from outside.

"A" IS FOR ACCADEMIA: ARTISTS FOR A DAY

Primary schools

Resuming the original purpose of the Gallerie dell'Accademia – educational and formative for aspiring artists – students step into the shoes of young Fine Arts pupils: the artworks examined explain one by one the specific aspects of the training of painters and sculptors, from the human figure to the landscape, playing on the curiosity of children who jot down the small vocabulary of art on a notebook. Little artists from A to Z.
