PHOTOGRAPHIC ARCHIVE / USE OF IMAGES

The office, established as a systematic archive around 1940, represents the extensive activity of photoshooting artworks housed in the Gallerie dell’Accademia and supports the museum's work. Furthermore it supports the archiving and cataloging of newly acquired photographic material and preserves a photographic collection, including historical images and documentation of restorations carried out by the institution, exclusively in digital format.

Following the ministerial reform of December 23, 2014, the Photographic Archive of the Gallerie dell’Accademia became an independent office. Previously, photographic documentation related to the Gallerie was part of the archive of the current Polo Museale del Veneto, where the original analog material is still kept.

🔎 The Photographic Archive is accessible only by appointment, which can be requested via email at ga-ave@cultura.gov.it.

SERVICES

No fee is required for reproductions requested by individuals for personal use or by public or private entities for non-profit purposes aimed at cultural promotion. All commercial uses instead are subject to a licensing fee, which must be paid in advance.

It is possible to request images, but, when required, the authorization of usage must be obtained.

USE OF IMAGES

The office is responsible for issuing:

  • Authorizations for photographic and filmed recordings inside the Gallery;
  • Authorizations for the reproduction of images of artworks housed in the Gallery.

Please note that licensing fees will be calculated based on the guidelines outlined in the ministerial decree D.M. 108/21.03.2024, currently in effect.

Requests must be sent to ga-ave@cultura.gov.it.

⚠️ The Direction reserves the right to deny new recordings if technical or security reasons prevent their execution.

The office does not issue invoices but provides a payment declaration, which holds the same legal validity for all purposes.
